Operation with an array of 4000 full-size SIM cards. Cards are placed in 16 SIM banks with a capacity of 250 cards each. The number of SIM cards simultaneously in use is defined by the number of installed card readers and modems connected to them, and can vary from 1 to 32.

Card readers can be installed in 2 levels. Installing a reader in the lower level reduces SIM bank capacity by about 70 SIM cards, in the upper level by about 100. A reader contains a group of spring-loaded gold-plated contact pins driven by a dedicated brushless motor. The design securely fixes the pins on the SIM card’s contact pads, leaving only a tiny (barely visible) contact mark. Important: this contact group solution has a virtually unlimited lifespan.

On the control board of each card reader there is a 14-pin connector for connecting a SIM Roulette modem module (available in 2G, 3G, CDMA, etc. see Modems). The connector exposes GND, VCC, RES, DAT, CLK SIM card contacts, as well as TX, RT of the serial port and power (3A, voltage adjustable from 1–11.5V). Via a special adapter, the connector can be used with any telecom devices: mobile phone, USB modem, GSM gateway, VoIP gateway, etc.

For controlling external devices, SIM Roulette uses an industrial RS485 interface. External peripherals may include: SIM switch, headset switch, auto-informer, dialer, load switch, etc. (see Additional modules). On our website you will find detailed documentation of the communication protocol for developing compatible SIM Roulette expansion modules.

For operational data display, SIM Roulette uses a built-in monochrome 2-line LCD display. For manual control, a remote control is included in the package.

All configuration, testing, and calibration of Sim Roulette are performed through the WEB interface.

SIM card loading into SIM Roulette is performed manually in stacks via the top panel slots or one by one through a front panel slot. SIM card unloading is performed manually in stacks via the top panel slots or into an external storage through the front panel.

For automated operation of the device, an external control device — computer or smartphone is required.

Operating principle:

  • Through the top panel’s service openings, SIM cards are manually loaded into the required banks
  • The device receives a command “set carriage opposite SIM bank number N”
  • The device receives a command “pick a SIM card from the top of the stack onto the carriage”
  • The device receives a command “insert the SIM card into card reader number N”
  • The device receives a command “raise contacts of card reader number N”
  • The device receives a command “power on modem number N”
  • Interaction with the modem is carried out via standard AT commands
  • The device receives a command “power off modem number N”
  • The device receives a command “lower contacts of card reader number N”
  • The device receives a command “extract the card from card reader number N”
  • The device receives a command “set carriage opposite SIM bank number N”
  • The device receives a command “place the SIM card back on top of the stack”

The SIM Roulette firmware offers 2 modes of interaction with an external control device:

  1. SIM Roulette acts as a server. The control device sends SIM Roulette a command via GET or POST request and receives the result of the previous command. Example: http://192.168.1.2/port?data=...
  2. SIM Roulette acts as a client. At a set interval, the device connects to a remote server via HTTP to receive a new command and return the result of the previous one.

SIM Roulette is a multitasking device. Even while performing mechanical tasks, it interacts simultaneously with any number of installed card readers, modems, and external peripherals.
